Meditation Group



Every Wednesday evening, our regular meditation group meets for a silent sit and some discussion of dharma and meditation practice. This group has been meeting for several years and carries a beautiful, peaceful and very friendly vibration. All are welcome, newcomers as well (though we suggest being able to sit quietly for 30 minutes at a time)! We sit on chairs, as well as on cushions on the floor. The meditation group meets upstairs in the Living Room, so you will need to be able to climb a stairwell.

Our meditation group is offered at no cost, though we certain welcome small donations with gratitude.

We are practitioners of Buddhist meditation, but all spiritual perspectives are welcome as long as they are respectful and move us forward in our practice of lovingkindness. Occasionally, our group will choose a book to study together, with discussion over several weeks, but this discussion happens after our sitting practice; please call ahead to find out what the next book will be.

*Please note that at this Wednesday meeting there is always some time for introductions and basic meditation instruction, but it is not a beginner's class. If you are interested in a beginner's class or workshop series in meditation, please call 607-733-3373 for more information on the next opportunity for beginners to get step-by-step guidance in mindfulness and meditation. The leaders of the meditations at Live Well Upstate are Margie Rodgers and Seamus Kennedy, and they can arrange group and private instruction here at our beautiful clinic, or offsite at your workplace or organization.

A great book on meditation, for both beginners and seasoned practitioners, is The Joy of Living by Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche.
